One of my favorite tools in the kitchen is my bench scraper. For me, it works double duty but just so you know, here's an official description via Google :
A dough scraper is a tool used by bakers to manipulate dough and to clean surfaces on which dough has been worked. It is generally a small sheet of stainless steel (approximately 3"×5" or 8 cm × 13 cm) with a handle of wood, plastic, or simply a roll in the steel blade along one of the long sides.
I use my scraper for it's official use - moving dough and cleaning the pastry board. It comes in really handy when you are cutting rolled dough or separating pie crusts because it has a slightly sharp edge on the long side. I use it when working with puffed pastry and love that it has measurements on the side for making sure you cut your dough in equal amounts.
Most importantly, I use this tool to move chopped food from my cutting board to awaiting pots, pans and bowls. The stainless steel is sturdy, easy to handy and pops right in the dishwasher for cleanup. This is one very useful tool that has earned it's place in my kitchen as a FAV!
Nice!
